Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announced today that Vincenzo Viola, 39, of Essex County, and Robert Capriglione, 37, of Passaic County, have pleaded guilty to multiple robberies that occurred in Morris and Bergen County in May of 2013.

The robberies, which occurred in Dover and Cliffside Park, occurred while the two men were impersonating police officers.

The two defendants entered guilty pleas today at a hearing in Superior Court in Morristown before presiding Superior Court Judge Stephen Taylor.

Defendant Viola, who lives in Orange, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery -- one each in Morris and Bergen counties.

Capriglione, from Clifton, also entered a guilty plea to two counts of second-degree robbery -- also one each in  Bergen and Morris counties.

The plea agreement calls for Capriglione to be sentenced to four years in State Prison on one count and five years on the second count.  At sentencing, the state will recommending a total consecutive sentence of nine years in prison.

Each offense for both defendants is subject to the ‘No Early Release Act’, so they will both be required to serve 85 percent of their sentences before being eligible for parole.

Viola’s sentencing has been scheduled for Oct. 30, while Capriglione's sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 6. Both will be sentenced by Judge Taylor.
