The family friendly crowd was filled with kids, who hopped on fire trucks and ambulances, bounced in the inflatable attraction, met the New Jersey Devil’s mascot, and enjoyed the horses of the Morris County Park Police’s mounted unit.
The event, hosted by the Morris County Park Police and the Morris County Park Commission, offered free food, drinks, music, ice-skating, giveaways, and attractions.
A host of fire, police, and rescue units were on hand to demonstrate a wide range of skills and equipment that are used in helping to protect and safeguard Morris County residents.
In addition, the Morris County Park Police once again registered Morris County children for their Child ID cards, an initiative launched in 2000 that has registered more than 1,000 children annually.
“This was a great event, which brought our county residents together for a fun and informative night with our police, fire and county rescue teams,’’ said Morris County Freeholder Douglas Cabana.
National Night Out, which began in 1984, is an annual nationwide community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and better places to live. It provides an opportunity to bring police and residents together in a positive setting, while promoting a countywide sense of community.
