New User Friendly Morris County Library Website is Launched --Easier to Navigate for Library Users

A new Morris County Library website has been created, with a fresh new look and easy-to-use navigation tools that should make it much easier for library users to find what they are seeking, or to get quick help if they can’t find what they need.

The new website, http://mclib.info/, replaces a 20-year-old site that is very familiar to regular library patrons, and has served the county very well.

But the new site is much more user friendly and easier to navigate, with simple pull down tabs at the top of the page, prominently placed key library news and information in large print, and a very easy to find help location.

“This is a major upgrade that makes it much easier for county residents to access library services, to find what they need – and maybe some fascinating things they didn’t know about – through a simpler and more intuitive website,’’ said Morris County Freeholder Tom Mastrangelo, who is the county governing board’s liaison on county library issues.

“We have created a new Morris County Library website that is extremely easy to navigate and places important services front and center on the main page,’’ added Chief Librarian Darren O’Neill.

“New arrivals to the library’s collection are prominently featured as well as staff recommendations. Patrons can easily sign up for library events and computer classes on a monthly basis and can even search the library catalog directly from the main page.’’

The Morris County Library website was first launched in 1995.  Designed and maintained by talented staff librarians, Lynne Olver and Sara Weissman, the site was hosted on donated space by Global Telecom Inc. (GTI) in Morristown.

Olver and Weissman created a unique and functional Internet resource centered on the bountiful services offered by the Morris County Library to its county residents.

Twenty years later, although the site retained its viability and currency, the opportunity was taken to update and create a more user-friendly website for the public.

Jamie Klenetsky Fay of the Morris County Office of Communications and Digital Media, worked for several months with library staff members Liz Boose and Melissa Nemitz to cosmetically improve the library website and integrate it into the overall County of Morris web presence.

They have created a new Morris County Library website that is extremely easy to use and places important services front and center on the main page.

If a question needs to be asked, the “Ask a Librarian” link is directly at the top of the page. There also is a quick link for a staff directory of library supervisors by department with accompanying phone numbers (including library administration).

The Morris County Library welcomes county residents to take a look at the new site, to explore its contents and find some hidden treasures. We also very much welcome questions, comments, ideas, complaints – and even compliments -- all of which can be submitted via the Feedback Form on the new website. Library staff will attempt to reply to all quickly and courteously.
