Morris County Authorities Confirm Death of Dover Bicyclist in Vehicle-Bike Accident

Authorities continue to seek the public's help for information regarding a fatal accident that occurred early Friday morning on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Rockaway Township Police Chief Martin McParland, in a joint statement, said the accident occurred in the area of 2 Green Pond Road, or Route 513.

On Friday, Oct. 23, at about 6 a.m., officers from the Rockaway Township Police Department were dispatched to the area of 2 Green Pond Road, near the off ramp of Route 80 West in Rockaway Township.

The dispatch concerned the report of a man who had been struck by a vehicle while he was riding a bicycle. 

The victim was transported to St. Clare's Dover Campus Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He has been identified as Jose Antonio A. Aguilar, 48, of Dover. The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries, and the manner of death to be a vehicular accident.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Major Crimes Unit and the Rockaway Township Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.At this moment, no further details will be released.
