The shows include: “Space Extreme’’ on Friday night, Sept. 11; “Shapes in the Sky’’ on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12; and “Tour of the Planets’’ on late Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12. All three shows will be repeated in October and November.

The universe is just one of the many things presented in the planetarium. Almost anything that can be imagined in the cosmos can be presented in new and exciting ways, including classes on a variety of subjects.
The planetarium dome is perfect for introduction to astronomy and general astronomy classes at CCM, but also is used for college-level presentations in meteorology, history, archeology, communications and literature. Grade school students, who make up the majority of visitors every year, also use the facility to augment their educations in science and space science.
The following is a look at this weekend’s schedule shows:
Space Extreme:
Fri, Sept. 11, 2015, 7 - 8 PM
The universe is packed with extreme objects and events and the Space Extreme series explores the biggest, hottest and most amazing. You’ll visit black holes, supernovae, colliding galaxies and others – all of which push the edge of understanding and imagination.
Recommended for ages 8 and older, Space Extreme will take place at the Longo Planetarium in Cohen Hall on CCM’s Randolph campus at 7 p.m. on Fridays Sept. 11, Oct. 9 and Nov.13.
Shapes in the Sky:
Shapes in the Sky is a storytelling series featuring fun myths and legends from around the world and throughout history. The whole family will enjoy the engaging tales told in the program.
Recommended for ages 4 and older, Shapes in the Sky will take place at the Longo Planetarium at 3 p.m. on Saturdays Sept. 12, Oct. 10 and Nov. 14.
The facility comfortably seats 91 people, and besides the new interior with new seating, there’s a new sound system, lighting and an exciting gallery of space images in the newly renovated lobby and entrance area.
Tour of the Planets
Tucked away in a roomy section of the Milky Way is an average star, surrounded by a small collection of eight planets, hundreds of moons, and uncountable asteroids and comets. They just appear as tiny specks from far away, but in the Tour of the Planets series you'll see that each of them has a remarkable, unique story to tell.
Recommended for those ages 6 and older, Tour of the Planets will take place at the Longo Planetarium at 5 p.m. on Saturdays Sept. 12, Oct. 10 and Nov. 14.

Admission: $10 for adults; $5 for children 12 and younger, seniors 62 and older, and CCM students, faculty and staff who provide their ID.
