At the meeting, held at the borough community center, Morris County Freeholder Director Kathy DeFillippo presented a resolution to Rockaway Borough Russell Greuter and Councilman Thomas Mulligan.
“We appreciate the longstanding spirit of cooperation between the freeholders, county government and Rockaway Borough,’’ said DeFillippo.
“We thank you for allowing us to help bring county government closer to the people of your community.’’
The freeholders have committed to conduct road meetings later this year in Lincoln Park, Oct. 28; and Florham Park, Nov. 23. They have held meetings previously this year in Chatham Township, Harding, Morristown, and Netcong, as well as in Rockaway Borough this week.
Travelling meetings have been held in all 39 towns in Morris County since the practice began in 2007.
These meetings give the freeholders an opportunity to meet people and officials from throughout the county on their own turf, to hear their local and regional concerns, and get a better understanding of what is important to their towns and communities.
The board of freeholders also meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the County Administration and Records Building in Morristown. The freeholders’ met on Monday in Rockaway Borough this week so as not to conflict with the Yom Kippur religious holiday.
