NJ DOT Announces "@NJDOT_info'' Twitter Account for Road Condition Updates

Morris County motorists can get real time updates on road conditions, especially during winter storms, major events, and during emergency road work through the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (DOT) new Twitter account – @NJDOT_info.

“NJDOT’s top priority is to keep our highways safe and keep traffic flowing,”  said DOT Commissioner Jamie Fox. “This Twitter account is another tool to provide information to the public on road conditions, construction updates, emergency road work, and department news. We encourage you to share the @NJDOT_info Twitter account to help get the word out.”

In addition to the new @NJDOT_info Twitter account, DOT has created Twitter accounts to provide real-time traffic updates for major highways in New Jersey that can help followers make informed decisions, save time and fuel costs, and avoid congestion.

The Tweets are created through DOT’s real time traffic Web site, www.511nj.org, which offers interactive maps and displays traffic incidents with real time traffic conditions on state highways, interstate highways, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.

The web site highlights incidents, construction, weather and special events.
The 511nj Twitter accounts are one-way automated information feeds from New Jersey’s 511 service and are not consistently monitored by DOT or its partner agencies. They are provided as a convenience and are not intended for receiving feedback, comments, or event reports.

Real-time traffic alerts will be available for 511nj Twitter followers in eighteen separate travel corridors, including many that run through Morris County or are used by Morris County commuters, at www.511nj.org. These interstates and routes are available online using Twitter:
