Resurfacing is set for portions of Mt. Pleasant Avenue in East Hanover, Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township, and West Mill Road in Washington Township.
Meanwhile, contractors have recently completed two other road resurfacing projects on Blackwell Street in Dover and Rockaway Township, and Canfield Avenue in Randolph and Mine Hill.
In addition, other resurfacing projects will be launched in the near future on roads in the Chathams, Hanover, Morris Township, Randolph and Rockaway Township.
The Morris County Board of Freeholders have budgeted more than $6 million in their 2015 capital program for roadway resurfacing in order to continue to provide the high level of road improvement work that was implemented starting in 2014.
“We continue to follow through on our promise to work aggressively to improve roads across the county, to ensure they are in good shape and safe for motorists,’’ said Morris County Freeholder David Scapicchio, who is the county governing board’s liaison on public works projects.
Next week’s paving projects include:
- West Mill Road, Washington Township: The 2.2-mile project will run from Beacon Hill Road to Schooley’s Mountain Road, with basin work and milling already completed, and paving to start on or about Aug. 10. Motorists should expect some detours and travel delays. The contractor is Topline Construction. The project cost is $537,372.
- Berkshire Valley Road, Jefferson: The 1.8-mile project will run from Route 15 to the bridge at Taylor Road, with basin work already done, and milling and paving to start next week. Motorists should expect some detours and travel delays. The contractor is Topline Construction. The project cost is $550,319.
- Mt. Pleasant Avenue, East Hanover: The 0.6-mile project will run from Route 10 through River Road, with basin work, milling and paving set to be done next week. The project will be completed before the start of the new school year. Motorists should expect some detours and travel delays. The contractor is AJM Contractors. The project cost is $254,062
Road closures and detours will be properly signed and coordinated with the local police departments for all of the projects. Bicyclists are urged to seek other routes during this construction period.
Major county resurfacing projects completed this year include portions of Watchung Avenue in Chatham, Old Denville Road in Boonton Township and Denville, Lees Hill Road in Harding, Green Pond and Berkshire Valley roads in Jefferson, Parsippany Boulevard in Parsippany, Center Grove Road in Randolph, and another section of West Mill Road in Washington Township.
